Act On COVID

Today, on May 10, 2022, my campaign for Congress is launching Act on COVID with the purpose of passing federal legislation to provide the resources and implement the tools to help reduce and prevent spread, provide financial support, and respond to community needs so we can finally control these predictable and preventable surges that have already taken so many lives, left countless with long covid, and have disrupted so many livelihoods.

“High-Quality Masks for All”

The purpose of “High-Quality Masks for All” is to stop transmission through source control. High-quality masks like N95s/KN95s/KF94s are highly effective at reducing infectious SARS-CoV-2 in aerosols from spreading into the environment protect both the wearer and those around them. The following are the priorities for effective “High-Quality Masks for All”:

✅ Free N95s Mailed to Homes

✅ Mask Mandate for Public Indoor Spaces Based on Community Transmission Levels

✅ Public Service Announcements on Airborne Spread

“Indoor Clean Air for All”

SARS-CoV-2 is airborne. The purpose of a bill focused 'Indoor Clean Air for All,’ is to reduce the number of aerosols with infectious virus indoors. Ventilation and filtration help to increase air volume and increase air exchanges per hour which help to remove and dilute virus that may be in the air. The following are priorities for an effective “Indoor Clean Air for All”:

✅ HEPA Filters for Every Indoor Space (Schools, Restaurants, Businesses, etc)

✅ Funding for Ventilation Infrastructure Improvements

✅ Public Service Announcements on Ventilation

“Testing for All” 

The purpose of “Testing for All” is to improve our surveillance system to catch infections early, quickly, and with high accuracy to prevent spread and get ahead of new variants of concern. The following are the priorities for an effective “Testing for All” bill:

✅ Free Rapid Tests Mailed to Homes

✅ Improved Reporting of Rapid Test Results to County

✅ Testing Regardless of Vaccination Status

✅ Increased PCR Testing Capacity Faster PCR Results

My campaign will continue to build the framework for Act on COVID in coordination with scientists and community organizations on the frontlines of containment efforts and community and direct aid. This framework is largely built on the framework from GreenZoneAct.com and as that framework has evolved since 2020 to meet the needs of the moment, so will be this framework for Act on COVID evolve to meet the needs of our community to protect them and help them prosper economically.
